Fan-made Animation Confusion

Fan-made Animation Confusion

Oh my god, this is terrifying. I feel like the target audience for these “hand-drawn animations” (手书) is a bunch of people I honestly don’t quite get. They seem to be mostly girls, the fan-fic type, with lots of rules, and they love writing all sorts of bizarrely long comments. It feels a bit too enthusiastic… a bit scary, actually. And right now, I feel like what I’m making is more like a music PV or a forbidden-style MAD. If I were to make a character “hand-drawn animation,” I’d have to find a ton of materials myself, because I’m not much of an artist, so I’d just piece together official assets. But everyone else’s “hand-drawn animations” seem to be entirely self-drawn. I’m so scared people will nitpick it. It’s terrifying, I’m panicking, I want to give up, but giving up without even trying? I’m such a failure, damn it. Plus, the character combination I came up with was a sudden inspiration, and I’ve found nothing similar on the entire internet. I’m afraid it won’t be understood, or even worse, get flamed. Sigh…

After asking an AI, I realized that what I’m making is indeed better described as a MAD or a PV, and shouldn’t be called a “hand-drawn animation.” Before, I didn’t know and just assumed everything was a “hand-drawn animation.” Well, I guess I learned something new, huh? haha.

Thanks for the Encouragement

Just wanted to jot down some of the real feedback I've received since I started developing. Thanks for being here.

To Start#

Since I’ve got some time on my hands, I thought I’d collect some of the feedback I’ve received so far…

Chrono Link - Game Reviews - TapTap, I really didn’t expect this. I only uploaded it after feeling pretty disheartened, but I actually got some real feedback. It seems like putting things out there is necessary after all, to make better games!

Mio’s Window Wanderer by Amiya_desi, LaoZhaoofGod, kazeyoxing, owo23333 for thatgamejam #01 🩵 - itch.io, this one’s a similar story, haha. I thought of a gameplay mechanic that seemed really interesting and even managed to build a bit of it, but in the end, the game just wasn’t fun, sigh… I’m suddenly realizing I might be pretty good at making these kinds of games, huh?

Vision Window, yep, it’s true. Ever since TGJ, pretty much every game I’ve come up with has been like this (((φ(◎ロ◎;)φ))). I’m way too into novel ideas, but I just don’t have the skill to polish them properly… And I’ve noticed a common theme: they all use a lot of AI… wait, isn’t that just a given? haha

Reflections on an Anime Club Event

An immediate post-event record about enthusiasm, social anxiety, photography, collecting photos, and a fresh touch of human connection.

Right now, it’s, emmm, basically just purely observing the enthusiasm of young people? (Feeling a bit sentimental?) But I still don’t really dare to participate in these kinds of things. Guess I’m still not that type of person, huh? (A bit dejected?) But since I came again, it seems okay? At least I got a photo (a bit happy) and also went along with the so-called ‘photo collecting’. At least for now, it’s a pretty fresh experience 😋

Then I watched about half an hour of freestyle dancing (though most of the time I was just listening to music, and of course, there were pretty cosplaying girls who would occasionally dance). But how should I put it, I got a bit tired of it? Let’s see if there’ll be other activities later.

There was a boy singing who seemed pretty good, and currently there’s also a Tiga (cosplayer) who’s not bad. Then I also sat down, and finally left around 5 PM. Went to the sports field to get some awesome shots, filmed the classic sprint transformation scene of Kurenai Gai (Ultraman Orb), so cool! All in all, it should be alright, right? Although I wasted some time, I still got to experience some human connection, and it also confirmed that I’m still that socially anxious person, not changed one bit, haha.

Collapse Prompt: I Still Want to Make Games

A very direct emotional record about a project being ruined by AI, self-doubt, and ultimately still wanting to make games.

I’m so annoyed right now. The first act, which was running pretty well before, has now been ruined by AI. And looking at that first act now, it just gets worse and worse. Plus, there are a ton of bugs, and the content length is totally inadequate. I’m a bit overwhelmed. I doubt if I can even do this well. In the end, I’m probably not even as good as those ordinary people who just play games all day. I just seem like someone independent, clear-headed, and with a plan, but in reality, I’m no different from those who lack ambition, just purely moving myself. What’s the point of making indie games? Learning this and that. Will I find a job after learning all this? Will I make big money? …But I still want to make games. I even want to learn skills like music, art, programming, and design myself. So what if I don’t make money? I can support myself anyway, and pursue my dreams. Even if no one recognizes it, even if it turns out to be just a joke, I still want to do it! …After all, that’s just how making games is, haha.

Open Source Reflections and Self-Reflection

A genuine snippet about open-source workflows, the urge to express, indie games, talent, and continuous learning.

Saw a big shot share their gemini gem workflow, it’s really powerful, and they’re passionate about open source and have achieved results. While I claim I want to open source too… me? I probably have results too, that website I was too lazy to maintain and handed over to AI? Maybe I can try writing some articles around May 1st…

I want to create a game that can express and convey… or maybe something else, but I think games are the most comprehensive medium right now, right? I’m also tied to this tech stack at the moment, but actually, other things I’ve learned while making indie games could also be small avenues?

Forget it, if I can’t even make a decent game, these derived skills… unless I’m exceptionally talented? But I don’t think I am, do I have talent? That’s still up in the air, but it’s fine if I don’t have talent, at least I can still learn.

Lumi, Omilia, Tutorial Captain, Paper Girl, Imposter Sock (I think that’s what they were called), Mr. Sock, the male protagonist and his lover, plus the classic cheat code/golden finger – a three-hour playthrough created so many distinct characters, it’s incredible.

The game can roughly be divided into four stages: files 1, 2, 3, and finally hacking the system. The classic “introduction, development, turn, and conclusion” never goes out of style.

Gameplay is basically simple decryption when finding files, then decrypting the files is a medium-level decryption, and after entering memories, it’s story, platforming, and combat. It’s well-layered.
